Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues to what I’m currently having with my Fiat 500 1.2 lounge.

I have had ongoing issues with multiple warning lights coming on, predominately the stop start unavailable, check engine and general hazard warning light. These will come on whenever the car the felt like and would go on and off intermittently. I took it to a garage who cleared the codes a few times and could not find a fault and said it could be sensors.

Since December, I have had further issues (only occurs when the above lights are ignited) where when I apply the hand brake and place the car into neutral, generally at the end of a journey but sometimes at traffic lights, and more lights will come on. These are ESP unavailable and hill holder unavailable. There have also been 2 occasions when all of these lights have been on the dash where the car has gone into limp mode and even with my foot down to the floor, the car would not go faster than around 8mph.

I have taken it to a Fiat garage who said the issues were down to an air leak, which they have fixed, however, 2 days later, I took it on a short drive, and when applying the handbrake at the end of my journey, all lights (stop start/ ESP/ hill holder unavailable) have all come on again and remain on.

They checked the battery initially and stated that was fine.

Has anyone had any similar issues?

I am taking it to a different garage tomorrow but just wanted to see if I could give them any pointers as I don’t have much confidence given that even a Fiat garage have not been able to sort it.

Thanks

Hi and welcome how old is the car?
Manual or automatic
For the moment ignore stop start esp and hill holder warnings.
Did you say the engine warning light is on, not triangle?
Brake lights working correctly?
Does everything on the tailgate work as expected

Hello :)

Car is 2016 reg but only has 29,000 miles on the clock.

Brake lights all working correctly.

I managed to get this video the other morning. The car was in neutral, handbrake applied so car was idling and within a minute or so the dash was just lighting up like that.

It has not.

It went into the garage today for a diagnostic who were unable to fix the issue but the codes that are on the system are:

P0069-62 and C1221-86.

Not really sure where to go at this point after 3 visits to 3 garages in 2 weeks and no luck 🙁

Hi :)
That P code could be the MAP sendor..

What did the Garages attempt to do??
So one of them said that some sort of seal was perished causing an air leak, so they fixed that and cleared the codes, came back within a day.
So it went back and they said that they hadn’t fixed the air leak properly so they sorted it again, cleared the codes and they came back.
So I went to a different garage who said they fitted a new manifold pressure sensor but faults wouldn’t change with this so they removed it and refitted the original and suggest I go elsewhere lol…

Ok
Well the code is probably the sensor that monitors how much air is passing into the engine..

This appears to be the common issue..when searching that P code on here.

Where are you based...?

A member with the correct kit for diagnostics might be near to you :)

Charlie - near the M4

The code you have is possibly p0106

Type - Check engine P0101 and P0106

Into forum search function and read thread

Successful outcome there

Hello :)

I have read the thread and did make the garage aware of the solution of that case but they said the codes were different unfortunately :(

May look to get the EVAP changed anyway just to rule it out…

It is possible to disconnect the blue pipe at the evap valve at inlet manifold.
Leave blue pipe open
Plug the evap valve- see if problem goes away. If problem goes away it proves evap valve fault.

Or

It could be a mis match between the signal the map sensor is sending the ecu and the signal the accelerator position sensor is sending ecu.

Check accelerator position sensor

Having a similar problem which started yesterday on my wife’s 66 plate. Not sure what to do next, if anyone can recommend a garage in Norwich I’d be grateful.

Taking mine to a Fiat specialist in cardiff on Wednesday (garage number 5). If I have any luck and figure out the issue I’ll let you know!

Received my car back from the garage today who confirmed it was the evap solenoid causing the issues!

Thanks for the advice :)

Hi Rachel, quick question, what garage in cardiff did you use and is the problem still solved? We have very similar issues to yours.

And just a quick question for anyone else who can help, I am wondering where you would purchase a Evap solenoid or if anyone has a part number, it’s a 2015 1.2 petrol

ha

Yep have not had any other issues since getting it fixed at the garage! I used Alpha and Yapps in Llanishen :)

Hi all, my fiat 500 has just done this stopped at traffic lights, it beeped and the engine light came on yellow along with the hazard train he and start stop turned off, the esp and hill holder unavailable then flashed up as I was nearly home. Other than all the lights she seemed to be driving fine? 63000 65 reg and I’m not sure if the cam belt has been done? X
