Hi guys!

Currently I am working on a Fiat 127 MK1, doing a restoration and preparing it for regularity rallies.

I am planning to use a A112 1050cc engine (very similar to the original 903cc). Currently I am working on the cylinder head.

Can you any one give the pros and cons of changing the valves from 26-29 to 28-31mm? Mainly on reliability, power, Maintenance... The valves and the valves seat will be close together, really close.

Yes, lets see if some expert on old Fiat's appear.

I saw on the youtube channel "Fiatnutz" that the guy increased the valve size, but not very clear on what was the solution.

I am trying to prepare the engine for regularity rally, so reliability is a must!
 
In my opinion then I would leave the valves alone. In fact leave the whole engine as it was designed. This engines is a cracking little unit and normally very reliable. As an engine it is well ahead of it's competitors in that era so I see no need to mess with it except for putting it back in tip top condition and maintain its reality.

My understanding of a "Regularity Rally" is that the courses and distances are set to challenge the driver / navigator to complete the course in a set time. Not too fast, not too slow and within the law. Given this then the course / time will be set within the capabilities of the vehicles in their relevant classes.

Also when any cylinder head is modified then it is often very difficult to fix/repair, and certainly quickly. Many engine tuners also keep their secrets close to their chests so you may not know exactly what and how something was done and this can make it difficult to get the process repeated by another company.

Keeping things standard is the most cost effective, reliable and reproducible format to follow.
