I know i could've just use search option for common problems or so, i'm trying to fit all of them in 1 thread, so be gentle.
Let's get to the point!

So i own:
Fiat Punto 1.2 8v
2002 year
189k km done on it

I'll try to be as detailed as possible

1. Knocking noise on left wheel
This is probably common thing but anyway..
This was since i bought the car 1.5 year ago, it was just slight ''tap-tap'' while steering on slower speeds/parking.
Over the time it started to tap more often, later that summer i bought new set of alloys ( 7Jx15'') it started to knock harder (due to weight obviously)
and now it's knocking like there's no tomorrow around it no matter if it's half-steer/full-lock,going over potholes, while driving its always there
I though Tie Rod would fix this problem but i guess not.
Mechanic's say ''its fine, doesn't need to change''
yeah right..
- Even when i start the engine, due to start vibration you can hear a single knock sound, weird right?
Ideas?

1.5 Bended/negative camber on right wheel
While it had stock wheel's it was unnoticeable at all, until i switched to new alloy's.
It's like 5% of negative camber not really noticeable on close, but when you look from far away or full-lock its pretty much noticeable!
( i don't know history of this car, might had accident maybe not who knows )
It's also scraping on full-lock

- If you go above 60km/h and slam hard on brakes, car slides to the right! could it be because of this too?
Where to look up on this one, ideas?

2. Juddering 2nd gear on downhill?
For example: (skip to 1:35)

Sometimes its slight shaking as shown in video, but sometimes ''when you let of gas and let it roll at downhill at 2-3k RPM''
it starts to violently shake like someone's stepping on brakes
( ABS kicked in yo)
If you press clutch, it stops. It's pretty annoying thing since this island is all about uphills and downhills each corner.
Ideas?

3. Misfire? Stalling? i don't even know myself for this one
Example:

Why is it stalling like this? When it's in normal working temperature it's acting like it lost power (if you hit 5k RPM it turns off ''in idle as in video'' not while driving)
but when cold, revs just fine?
(replaced spark plugs and faulty cables, doesn't help either)
Ideas?

4. Squeaky clutch pedal
(in the summer or after long, long driving)
It's pretty annoying sometimes, is there a way to fix this? haha

Extras about the car:
- It's smooth like butter when cold, until it gets to working temperature, noises everywhere, sometimes it acts like it lost power (mostly summer)
- No errors shown on dashboard so far, just 1second red blink light for steering which is common thing
- No rust on the car except few little spots, but underneath the car everything looks fine, checked everything seems on its place, but yet problems are there as said above (been to 3 local garages, they can't spot anything...sure)

Living on this island is pretty rough, lazy mechanics telling you to buy a BMW instead modding/fixing the punto, because it's not worth it? what?
I have to send the car by the ferry to another place where people would fix the car!
There's alot of thing's i'd list up here, but i don't want to waste time of yours!

That's pretty much it, if i forgot something i'll edit up! :)

Thank you for your patience, i hope to hear solutions, ideas and stuff from you guys!

189000km = 117.5K

The old girls has done some miles there already!

Knocking noises
Located front left
Could be anything from a Duff Track rod end / Inner
Knocking Ball joint or dead bushing in bottom arm
Anti-roll bar bushing could be perished
Hell it could even be a wheel bearing - but tbh you'd notice it more as a constant drone if it was that bad as well

If its coming only when engine starting - i'd honestly look at the engine mounts
There are 3
1 Under battery tray which mounts to gearbox
1 on Cambelt side of engine
1 under the car attaches subframe to gearbox

Usually - its the under car mount that fails because of the rubber been degraded by road quality mixed with age/wear

This could cause kncoking/banging randomly, usually worse when you stamp on the power and off again

---------------

no1.5
Excessive camber
Punto's Really DONT have adjustability when it comes to camber adjustment tbh, i do believe there are camber bolts availible, but tbh 99% of the people on here are UK drivers, and most dont have the issue
It could be a simple worn ball joint causing alignment to be out or just tollerances from factory are okay for stock wheels - but your wheels aren't stock
Scrapin on full lock - is usually a sign of over wide wheels fitted to the vehicle
Catching on the inner wheel arch trim of the wing itself - Dangerous really....

Need to locate where and why - as usually its over wide wheels that cause it

Brake pull can be caused by alsorts
From uneven brake wear
to 1 side having caliper/pad issues
Trapped air in a caliper
Slider pin seized
Uneven tyres and tyre pressures....
Worn ball joints and bushing.....

the rule of thumb if it was caliper issue, the side that is working, its the oppersite
So say you (front left) was seized solid = no braking force
It'd pull to the right because the right wheels are slowing down vs left which aint

2

How you describe it
Judders badly when engines winding down - but suddenly stops when clutch is pressed
It tells me that there is a possible issue with an engine mount - See point 1 , but also see point 3 below

3
Car bogging / Struggling to run after been given some throttle (gas)

This sounds like the throttle body butterfly valve (the bit that actually moves and lets air in and out)
Over time they get gunked up with Crankcase fumes
As a result the tiny gap preset for idle becomes smaller

The idle control valve (a little extra passage way controlled by a valve) is reacting to allow the extra air needed back in
But not uncommon for it to seem "a little slow" to react

cure?
Dead easy
Take the throttle body off - Get the air passaged cleaned out, using wd40 on a rag, Brake cleaner or carb cleaner and get it all nice and clean :)

This could also be your getting a sudden juddering when coming off the throttle when going down hill

The engine was getting air - Suddenly not enough due to restrictive gap
The idle control valve kicks in to open gap
So the cars going from Smooth - Suddenly lack of air (judder) - Idle valve activates = enough air = Smooth = Idle valve closes and see what happens?
Sudden lack of air again :)

-----

Squaky clutch pedal
is it actually the pedal - or just from the engine bay?

Tbh i'd give the joints around the pedal a shot of WD40 and see if the noise goes away for a short period - if it does, you found the dry joint

Just for gods sake - Dont actually spray the rubber bit on the pedal itself

Wow, thanks alot Ziggy i really appreciate that!

Well it's pretty tight fit (4mm of space) but wheel spacers would fix it, right?
Running on 195/50/15 which is usual size of wheels here, so yeah!

Also, forgot 1 more thing...
The ''metal on metal'' noise while driving, as i saw on forums it might be due to steering column, or could it be something else?

195/50/15 shouldn't be an issue...
Alot of people run them instead of 185/55/15

Where is it actually rubbing tho?

Trouble is with armchair diagnosis is very hard to say whats wrong without been there

Ziggy

It's rubbing on inside wheel arch cover, not on fenders since its pretty much factory lifted!
