Hi All,
I'm suspecting the worse after reading similar post on this forum.
A While back i noticed the sound of running water coming from behind the steering column when first starting the car and moving off.
Past few weeks to a month or so, it feels like the car is a little underpowered at times, particularly in from 3rd gear upwards. Maybe its just me!
I've noticed the fuel consumption has gone down. Used to get around 420-450 sometimes close to 500 miles off a full tank. Now its closer to 380-400 everytime.
The temperature gauge goes up normally (well its not behaved any different since i bought the car, not that i've noticed a change anyway) and stays in the middle position, which i suppose is correct?
My daily journey is quite short (to and from work just 1 or 2 miles each way, crawling in traffic.) with the odd medium to long distance journey thrown in at weekends etc.
Its a Bravo 1.2 16v, around 60,000 on the clock, timing belt changed when i bought it at 50,000
After reading a few posts, i was wondering if any of these problems are linked to a Head Gasket failure, and how to make sure the its knackered, i.e. what are the symptoms to looks for?
Also, how much am i looking at paying if it needs replacing, dont want to get ripped off by some cowboy spanner monkey. Anyone recommend any garages in the Leicester/Loughborough and surrounding area?
thanks in advance for any comments
Richie
