Am I right in surmising that the only difference between the facelift version and the previous version are the front and rear bumpers? Are the front wings the same pressing? Has anyone actually fitted the new shape bumpers to the old shape model?

Ah, but that was fitted from year 2000 models so that doesnt count

Face lift has extra bumper bar mounts that you need to fit before you can fit the new shape bumpers. The dash has a different plastic finish and the door trim has a different arm rest thing.
Thats about it for looks.
The engine had a few small changes but nothing special.
Wings are the same.

Interesting, something to consider in the future. I quite like the new front bumper
I want a new shape rear bumper on my B. I would not change the front over but would mod the front a little.
I have been on the look out for well over a year now, and I have never seen anything second hand from a new shape B on eBay.
I have seen a few new shape bumpers for sale in Germany but not original so would not touch them in anyway.
