Fair comment, but it would only be fair to say that only relatively recent ex-world champions are likely to provide a frame of reference to the depths of talent Hamilton has at his disposal - he is an astonishing driver.
Who would have thought Fisi would put a Force India on pole? Or Trulli winning at Monaco or Kobayashi being arguably the best overtaker in the sport..... put Heikki in a top car again and I think he could match the best. Some great drivers have passed all too briefly through F1 as they haven't shone, some F1 drivers of the past shouldn't have been there at all (and I can think of one or two this season too!) and some just need to acclimatise over time which F1 doesn't offer.
