I bought my car yesterday (Fiat Panda Sergio Tacchini) and drove it all the way up from London to Lancaster no problems at all. I parked it in the car park outside my residence and some bloody drunk ripped my passenger wingmirror off, broke the aerial and climbed on the roof of my brand new (to me) car. I'm absolutely fuming - if I'd got my hands on the prat he wouldn't have known what had hit him (and I'm a girl!) The main roof dent popped out and there are only 2 minor dents. Does anyone know if I can replace a wingmirror easily?
Yes, if you need a spare i have one, i pressume you are in the same Lancaster that i am. that should make getting hold of it quite easy... and i know the PU2 member in manchester has a car with 2 adjustable wing mirrors going cheap/free on a car that's not going to be around much longer.

Tony, whats happening to PU2's car like, i thought he was wanting it repaired (or am i getting muddled up (is PU2 the owner of the LHD 4x4??))

AJ, if your ever up in Newcastle, i could respray the bonnet for you, and i could have a look at the dents for you :) (any pictures of you and your car :chin: )

Thanks for all your support guys. It's actually the Sergio Tacchini that was on Ebay - I bought it outside the auction from the guy. So pics can be seen from the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4647561136&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:UK:1

I absolutely love the car - it's wonderful I'm just gutted some moron decided it would be fun to stand on it and break it. But, it's all aesthetic so nothing too bad. I've actually sourced a wingmirror back home and my Step-Dad is a dab hand with cars so he's going to fix it for me. The boot lock is actually stuck at the moment and won't open but he's also going to fit a new one. Roof dents are now tiny (thank god the big dent popped back out) and the guy luckily didn't damage the paint work so that's great. Got a friend in a garage back home who will take the dents out with sunction pads or something for free. As for bonnet - Newcastle is only an hour from my home - Lancaster is my uni address - but I've decided the white bonnet although not an original feature actually looks quite funky so I will probably keep it.

I'm really grateful for all the advice and offers though - many thanks!

F**k me a woman comes along and all of a sudden he springs into life :)

LOL :D, well you know what i am like, always looking for a single lass who likes pandas :)

edit - AJ, try taking the lock off the car and cleaning it up, as the lock on my panda didnt lock when i bought it, but i found out that the lock was encrusted with dirt, it now works almost perfect :)

Lol - unlucky for you I'm not single! But I do love Pandas! My step-dad is going to sort the lock. I just don't have any tools or know how to have a go myself so I'll leave it for him to do. Car is ace though and only a few minor things to fix despite the vandal. I'm going to get it serviced too by the fiat garage to make sure it is all good. The only other prob besides boot lock, new aerial, new wing mirror, small dents (which are all easily fixable) is to fix the drivers seatbelt - the bit that it clips into releases the seat belt whenever it feels like it and don't think it would save my life in an accident! So will get that fixed by garage. All else good.

Yeah will see. Know a few good garages back home. Am leaving it to the judgment of my step-dad because he is paying for the service as a present. So I'll let him decide but reckon he will do most of it himself anyway.

I think the boot will be easily fixable. I got it open yesterday - just a bit stiff - but then after I had shut it I couldn't get it open again. But I don't want to force it and break the key! But I'm sure Ray can fix it easily - he seems confident. As for seat belt - the bit that is broken is the bit that the seat belt metal clip fits into (the plastic bit - if that makes sense). The button which you press to open the seat belt is broken and so it just springs out when I'm driving along. Do all panda's have identical seat belts and clasps?

Excellent. Thanks for the offer. I'll speak to my step-dad later today or tomorrow and ask him about it. But good to know there are sources out there!! (Guy at scrap car place today when I asked about wing mirror for a fiat panda laughed at me and said no-one drives them anymore - I beg to disagree!)

I feel like I'm just draining you guys of all your knowledge about Pandas! I hope soon enough I will be able to give some advice to others as well... Just one more question - the jerk drunkard also broke my aerial - it still slots back onto the car and the wiring is still in place (radio works ok but not brilliant reception) - are the aerials easy to get hold of? I looked on ebay but they seem to be for the modern panda... Would one for the modern panda fit on ok?

Sorry to keep asking for advice and help etc...

Advise & help is what we're here for so don't worry. The original ariel has excellent reception, a few years ago after my ariel broke I tried a modern roof ariel making sure it was properly earthed etc etc but the reception was crap and cost twice as much as the original ariel from fiat, so got the original one and the reception was excellent again so get one from fiat.

The scrap yard bloke obviously doesn't know his arse from his elbow the panda's were produced till 2003 although stopped in this country in 1995/96 and you can still buy new parts often cheaper than second hand so always check the dealer first before buying anything else.

Thanks very much. I'll wait and get the aerial sorted by my step-dad then through fiat. The scrap yard guy was a pain - not worth bothering about. One of the scrap yards back home had a wing mirror to match the year of the car so my step-dad bought that - under £5. So I can't complain about some of them - I must've just been unlucky with the chap I met.

Cheers again! I'm really grateful. :)

I seriously doubt any gagrage would entertain working on this item, there's too much potential litigation involved... however good ones are easy to source... I refer to the panda PU2 currently has... all of the seat belts are tip-top. If you are happy letting your step-dad source and pay and then fit all the items you are after then do it... seems the long way around to solve some of the issues you have with the car. and sadly yes the students that are resident in lancaster are a bunch of tossers (much like the rest of the country) they get better as they age generally. If it's any consolation the local populace seem to do the same thing after closing hours.

If you can manage to drive to the castle you could get a wing mirror fitted for free and the lock fitting loosened. you could have chosen between and metalic blue or a black bonnet 2 days ago but the scrap man now has them.

Thanks for your advice. It's no worry really. I like the white bonnet and it is pristine. I've sourced a wing mirror which is now sitting in my garage back home ready to be fitted by my step-dad. He's going to sort seat belt and boot lock too and knows who to talk to about it. He's not going to waste money resolving the issues when he can do the work himself - he has rebuilt many cars in his time. So I have no real worries about it. :)
