I have a 2013 automatic 500 fiat pop w 1200 miles. When my aux wire is plugged at one end into the car with media chosen on the dash board but not plugged into my 4s phone, it causes static noises. The noise goes away as soon as I plug in my phone at the other end or select radio on the dashboard. Can you experts help me. My old 2005 Sentra used to always have my aux wire plugged in but my phone was hardly plugged and it never caused any static. Is this normal w fiats? Can someone test and let me know the result.

I think it's more to do with the cable, is it fully plugged into the car end? Also it's not resting against anything metallic is it? Anything that can interfere with the connection can cause static, but that's usually when it would be set onto the Aux connection.

Thank you, I'll check. The aux cable was fine in my old car. I will use the USB port and report back. Thank you for posting a response. Appreciate it.

I've just checked mine (2013 manual with Blue and me) and the cheap cable I bought from pound world did not produce any interference noise on my stereo. As a further check I disconnected the ipod from the USB lead and got no noise then either.
