General Experience of DTR

General Experience of DTR

I blogged last week about my satisfaction with DTR.
I did not take out a warranty and opted for a discount instead.
DTR do their own warranty, so it was in effect useless to me anyhow!
But here's the rub! Last week it cost me £70 at my local favourite mechanic
(Ayrshire - Scotland) to repair the windscreen washer bottle.
Tomorrow, the BB (black Barchetta) goes to my local Fiat garage to have the tick-over adjusted. The car keeps conking-out very time I stop.
So, just maybe, I sang the praises of DTR too early.
DTR, you are very welcome to reply!
:(

was the water bottle leaking from when you got it(if you could see)?
was the car cutting out when you got it?

Hi DTR here, the problem sounds like the idle control valve is dirty. It sits on top of the throttle body and is held in by 2 philips screws. Remove it and clean with carb cleaner and that should clear the problem.

Hey, you're from Ayrshire?! I live in Kilbirnie, where you? Also, where's this favourite mechanic you mention?

Paul, I guess,
Local Fiat garage fitted filtering element (£32.21) and electro-valve (£115.74)
labour (£144.00) VAT (£51.09) TOTAL = £343.04.
Still believe better than useless warranty. Cutting-out not so bad now, but still awaiting throttle-idle plunger (is that what it is called ? )
If you have one, let me know please.
How about fitting a set of MX5 rollover bars as a token gesture next time I'm down in London ?

Hi custard, sorry about late reply.
Saw no leaks on collection of car.
Did not start cutting out till I got to M1 and by then I was not for going back!
Traffic and roadworks dreadful that day, M25, M1, M6. M74, M8, M77.
Left DTR at 3pm, got home at 1am, what a journey. But looking on the bright side, learned to drive a LH drive car by then! Cheers:)
