Technical Exhaust Question

My exhaust on my mk1 1.2 16v sporting has a problem, the mid-section has a hole in it. A few months ago, the back box fell off so I replaced it with a Stainless steel back box, but now the mid-section needs replacing, but when I am phoning these car spares places up, they are telling me that the exhaust is actually one piece from the cat back, so the mid-section of the exhaust is an all in one piece including back box.

Is this true, because my car has a seperate mid-section and always has had, even before the back box fell off.

Can anyone help with where I can just buy the mid-section of the exhaust, or should I just buy the whole thing and cut the back box off so I can keep my stainless steel back box.

Some of them come as a whole piece, some come in 2.

Just depends on the place. Most aftermarkets come in 2 sections though, singles are normally just from factory.

Yeh... that's right. I was able to replace my exhaust in different sections... bought from Dingbro, yet when i'd called garages for a quote I was told the same as you.
