I'm looking to get a backbox for my seicento. I know everyone will say "Buy supersprint they're the best!" but I really can't afford. So I've decided to opt for a cheaper way, either buy cutting off my current standard one and fitting a universal on, either by welding or jubilee clips.

I do want something less restrictive, I'm even thinking of getting a straight through or removing the cat con.

Any advice would be nice, but please don't blame me to crap lol.

Thanks in advance, Luke.

I don't know much about cars really, so I need a lot of help getting things right. anyone know the size of the pipe behind the standard backbox?

Exhaust clamps it is, didn't know what I would need to use lol. Please no one quote that in their sig heh.

Luke.

I did have a backbox already in mind...you'll all hate me when you hear the magic phrase;

Cherry bomb

The inlet is either 40/45mm stepped or a 50mm straight.

Please don't kill me for being slightly chavvy even though I'm a trendy.

Luke.

Cherry bomb exhaust will annoy you after so long i would imagine

Doesnt ebay have any second hand backboxes?

They don't I'm afraid, I do want something a bit raspy, but when I came along the cherry bomb I was a little interested. 2nd hand universal back boxes are quite hard to find, especially with the size of the outlet being small for the seicento.

well i wouldnt go for a supersprint then if you want something a bit raspy as there are slightly louder ones than that

I don't really want loud, but something sporty that might give me a nice sporty burble. Changes tone when the throttle opens up you know.

Luke.

everyone (that hasn't witnessed it 1st hand) will crap all over what I'm about to say, but since I have one and think it's perfect I feel I have a solid opinion here... Sportex.

On a Cinq these can be a bit too loud, but on the Sei (especially MPI Seis) they are much quieter - noticeable, but quiet enough not to be annoying (which is nice especially when motorway driving!).

Now I know your Sei is an SPI in MPI's clothing, so your cat will be totally different to mine - and as such doesn't muffle the noise quite as much, however if you found the sportex back box to be too loud as standard, you could always get a midpipe made up that has a baffle (I actually had my sportex made with a baffled midpipe - as I have a spare straight through pipe, which I may be putting on soon).

I do have an older video of the exhaust but to be honest the sound quality is crap - will do a new vid one night this week, but for now have a lookie here:

Sportex will be loud on his cento as its same as cinq engine. Its only on MPI that it is a bit quieter

Also sportex isnt stainless steel and will rust in a few years so will be unsaleable

So yes you are flamed :p

How much did you pay for the back box? Reason being for me going universal is the serious lack of dollar so opting for the £60 mark ones. I'm looking for something in the near future, otherwise I'd prob get the laser one being sold in classifieds ;)

Luke.

ebay has the sportex at 139.95 but think thats the whole lot or majority of system not just backbox.

would save up like alaina said, you will regret buying the sportex sorry ronnie

I'm not even bothered if it only just changes the note to be honest. I'm a person who's big on performance, but with the shortage of funds it makes everything so difficult. Maybe when I can afford it I'll change to a full system and a stainless manifold. For now it'll be simple springs, a chip and induction.

erm, bout £100 inc midpipe & delivery next working day (y)

The laser ones are supposedly quite quiet - even on the spi engine.

There's a remus one on ebay - had one previously, nice note to it - was just too quite on the mpi cat...
