Technical Exhaust off rubber mount!

My exhaust on my 1.2 X-reg has somehow slipped out of the rubber exhaust mount. I don't know how because its bordering on impossible to get it back on again! I've put string round it and tried to pull it towards me to slip the fork bit into the holes but to no avail. I'm really trying not to spend any money on sorting this as I'm out of the country for a year from next week and my mates looking after my car. Any clues bar cutting this one off and replacing it?

put some wd40 on it, then stick a decent size screwdriver through the rubber mount and lever it towards the exhaust. These can be fiddly but its doable, just persevere.
