Hi All,

I am the final stages of my 126 engine build, although just snapped a stud in it last night ( Idiot), anyway will give me something to do. Ref exhaust , any point fitting something other than STD on a STD engine? would like to keep original heat shield, have fitted 500 tin ware.

Many thanks

I would fit standard on standard engine. Other choices seem to lead on to tweaks needing to be made elsewhere.
With a 126 engine I think the heat-shield will need changing for one for a Fiat 500R.

If I fit a 500 exhaust, should be fine?

Yeah I have an old one in the shed , I will give it a go.

The '500' exhaust will NOT fit a 652 '126' engine due to the 'heater-air' outlet from the thermostat housing being in different places---on the 500, the outlet is on the front of the housing whereas on the 126, the outlet is to the side of the housing.the result being that the down-pipe on the 126 engine needs to be of a different curvature in order to clear the hot-air outlet.

Hi Hobbler, its got 500 tin ware on it, which removes the outlet issue doesn't it, whats your thoughts on the exhaust, just stick with standard?

Depends if you want some more noise or not. The more sporty exhausts will help a margin in terms of engine performance, but you'll never notice it. All about the sound and the look.

There's possibly an issue with the location or angle of the studs for the silencer cradle on the side of the crankcase. So, if possible, I would still recommend a test alignment before committing to new parts.
