Hi I have a Fiat towbar I am trying to fit to my weekend but the exhaust bracket will not go back on because of the shape of it. Ive tried Fiat dealers but all I can get is theres only one that fits apart from using a big hammer and bending the offending part away from the towbar which will make the hangers hang at different heights I am sure there must be someone who has fiitted a towbar successfully without having to resort to abusing the bracket hope somebody can help its too cold to be lying on the ground looking at it.

Thanks
Bill

ok, as standard the bracket bolts up tight to the rail.

with the towbar there the bracket cannot sit in place laterally unless it is lowered - a longer bolt and a piece of tube to space it out should do. 20mm is enough to clear the brink towbar.

where the crossmember of the towbar comes down from the chassis it is a lot straighter on mine (gen fiat)so doing that I would have to put tube on to come down past the crossmember which is too low I would be pulling the exhaust down. I have been onto Benfield motors at Newcastle and he has ordered a bracket for me which is a funny triangular shape he says so I will see tomorrow if this is the proper one for the job. The first place I phoned was GMD at Durham and he just wasnt interested in looking to see so he said there was only one bracket so thats where he can stick it and his computer as well the lazy git. thanks for your reply Hellcat Ill let you know tomorrow about this triangular shaped one.
