General european headlights

Hi, just a quick question on the off chance someone may know.. Im moving to Germany next month and require my car to get bfg'd so therefore need to have the correct headlights. Anyone know somewhere i can get hold of a set? Would fiat sell them?

hi ..I remember the days when I was a BFG inspector...You will also have to get your rear fog sorted ,as for germany it will have to be moved to the passenger side which is the german O/S ..

You don't have to get the car tested straight away ,so you have time to visit some german scrapyards on sports afternoons

Before someone say fit stickers to deflect the beam ,that is not allowed ,the vehicle has to comply with the german / BFG laws to be put on the BFG net along with the perks that comes with it

As for the headlamps,try a European ebay as in the Italian /german /french version etc

If you buy the lights from a german dealer ,you can claim the tax back ..It's simple .Pay office will explain.I is well worth it

I suspect a breaker will still be MUCH cheaper though..!!,

unless your ebay purchase is something you can collect on your way ( free..!!)

i did see a set on the German ebay for 130 euros or so, i presume they would be the right ones?? As you said there should be plenty of sports afternoons to go and find myself a scrappy. Im sure there will be one around the Herford area?
any idea on how to move the rear fog light? Totally forgot about that one! Dammit!!! The list is never ending

Spent 3 years in herford..at the camp at the end of the main street ..There was a nice wee Bosnian restaurant there..You would need another fog lamp and move the wiring over,A yellow handbag may sway a R.E.M.E.lad to do it ,as they can usually open the workshop at night for homers ..Yellow handbag being a box of Herforder pils ..a nice tipple .98% of pubs sell it as it is made locally

get a clear fog lamp cluster (EG LHD reversing light


and a red bulb.........

that way if you need to revert to uk spec

the wires exit the centre of the boot and run taped across the back of the car...

just swap the bulb/ bulb holder and pass the wiring left to right and right to left

also for headlights you need to know if they are 7 or 14 pin (s1 or s2)

if stuck you can swap the wiring loom round from your current lights so they work
