Technical Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response, Hill Start Issues & Watchdog report

I've just gone and testdriven a brand spanking new 1.2 on a 14 plate with 120 miles on the clock and have driven it up a steep hill twice and video'd it. Guess what happened?

As there is no way of knowing that ...

The date of first registration is 17 July 2014.

So it's likely every bit a Euro 6 car as any other other that people are happy/unhappy with.

So it's likely every bit a Euro 6 car as any other other that people are happy/unhappy with.

If you still have access to it, can you please have a look up in the drivers footwell and see if you can find the supposed clutch position sensor - some photos of that area might be interesting.

We still need an unambiguous key physical feature that anyone can find to differentiate the Euro6 cars.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to make the video.

Hill start in the Eu6 at 4:00mins looks like you rolled back slightly maybe due to to flat spot and then revved the hell out of it to avoid stalling and make it up the hill.
Imagine having to do that in stop/start traffic on a hill with cars in front and behind you.
Would you expect a driver who had recently passed their test to be comfortable with that style of driving?

No no no no no no no.

I didn't have to rev the hell out of it, it was at perhaps 2.25k prior to dropping the clutch both times (note the same happens in my car...... and it's a very steep bit of road) and I was never in danger of stalling nor did I ever have to use full throttle.

It wasn't a flat spot that got me, I got the clutch bite point wrong, you've got to remember that my clutch has done 70k miles so they're different. It wasn't a lack of power, it was a lack of the engine being connected to the gearbox :)

Don't still have it, didn't think of that tbh. Perhaps someone who actually has access to one 24/7 can do that ;)

Hello and welcome to the forum .

Glad to hear you're having a positive experience with your new 500.

Interestingly several of the posters who aren't having issues with their Euro6 500 also have the hill holder option.

Coincidence? Maybe something, maybe nothing. Just an observation at this stage.

I should mention that my 500 didn't have esp (didn't have an asr off button) and was happy to spin its wheels as you could hear ;)

One of the cars I tested also had Hill Holder but this didn't make any difference to it's performance. It was just as bad as those without.

Nice video forgot how loud those indicators sound inside :D, it makes me wonder still if it indeed it could be a quality control issue ,perhaps say for example a batch of one to two hundred sensors? as the problem seems to be 1 in every 30 judging by the majority on here ,time will tell and as i said before perhaps a recall on certain vin numbers but who knows with our beloved Fiat

Normally I have the radio on, but of course that wouldn't have helped for the video :)

I've always said that it's a qc issue :)
