i just joined today

i own and am restoring a 1977 fiat 124 spider

im stuck with the decision of leaving in the fiat motor/tranny and modifying it wit hrare and expensive fiat compatible parts.

or

Buying a ford mustand 289 smallblock v8 and tranny and dropping it into the fiat comprimising few thousand and the rarity of the car itself, or having a much more powerful car and a much easier car to work on.

ideas anyone?

Cool! Old cars!

Where are you in the world Brandon? Most Spider owners hail from the USA.

Welcome.

Liam

Hi Brandon

Liam it does sound like that Brandon is from over USA way - don't get many smallblock V8s on these shores :chin:

yeah i live in new york about an hour outside of manhattan. my parents bought the fiat in the early-mid 80's and had taken it off the road after buying a newer more reliable car at the time. it was put into storage at my uncles house in his garage but was moved into his backyard to make room. it was there for about 7 years so the body is pretty corroded and needs some work done to it. hasnt been started in like 10-15 years but ran fine when put into storage. i think ive decided to keep the stock motor though because im still paying for school and payments on my other car and i kinda need to save money. i just thought id sign up for this to see if anyone had any ideas or if i needed help with anything.
