I'm having the oil changed tomorrow and am going to add slick 50 to the oil, there are two to choose from the regular one and the synthetic high performance one,I'm unsure if the high performance one is suitable, has anyone got any advice for me?thank you

I would say use non of these crap.

Regular oil changes are good enough.
If you change from mineral to full syth. i suggest changing it after 5.000 km the first time as it will take alot of sludge out of the engine in the oil.

After running 2 years on castrol 5w40 my block is as clean as it gets

Thanks Bollie, the engine was fitted to my car 500miles ago and it was flushed when they fitted it,I think the garage used semisynthetic oil.it has done around 70000mls before I had it,

I have always used Slick 50 and have never had a problem with any engine.

I read the link you provided, I think it confirms that these products, are of little use, if the car is well maintained with good regular oil changes our cars will perform just as well.
I do think it is an opinion if you are happy to spend an additional £20-25 on an oil change, that is up to the individual.
I change my oil once a year,I average about 2000 miles per year so the car does not get a lot of use, but I do enjoy enthusiastic driving.

I do agree with you and I do regular oil changes too,
I also run a Renault Trafic Diesel Van with 120000 miles and the oil change schedule is 18000 miles between changes, I change it at 4/5k and it's a perfect engine, BUT I have been using Slick 50 since around 1988 and I still will continue, I think it's a personal thing, so there are pro's and con's to it.
The3 B is on Mobil 1 though :)

think about this:

If this is so good, why aren't putting all good brands of oil it in the oil the first place?
Just a money scam if you ask me.

I added slick 50 to the engine,I didn't mind as the oil and filter change was free, thanks for the advice though.its an interesting topic
