In June im going to be buying my mates clio 1.4, but im going to keep my sei.

Just wondering what is the BIGGEST engine you can get into a sei? Got big plans for the sei but first i want to sort out the engine etc.

cheers

The BIGGEST is a 1.4 Uno Turbo engine ?

The best engine imo would be a fully re-worked 1.2 16V Punto Engine.. running a high boost turbo and all the rest of it.

150BHP is enough in a 700kg car ;)

ive have looked at the possibility of those two, but wondering if anything bigger, 150bph is plenty but if i can get more, then more the merrier!

Sei is a great car but little under the hood space!

Nope. The biggest is an Alfa 2.5 V6, although that has yet to turn a wheel, so the prize goes to a 2.0 litre Cossie Turbo. 320bhp or so.

Enough for what? It's a healthy power to weight ratio, but there are street legal cars out there with more than 500bhp/ton.

hehe another one ;)

Why ask whats the biggest? Its pointless unless you are going to do it, and can handle the ££.

Think of a budget first and then plan what you can do, and what you want from it.

If you are getting a Corsa will this be another regular runer or a weekend/track car.

Capacity wise the 1368cc fire is the biggest capacity easy fit, but your still looking at 1K+ minimum I'd say. you need Engine, some ancileries, induction, custom exhaust, mapping and/or afterarket ECU etc.

Other non fire engines, look at a lot more..a few more £K at least....plus the uprated brakes, suspension etc. ;)

Still interested when you will have another car???

Budget wise ill have approx 7k (helps having a uni fund when your a school failure(y) and with a little help from daddy!;) )

Im buying the clio as my everyday car for 2k, which leaves me with approx 5k to play with my sei! obviously i don't want to spend it all so less is better!

want to do most of the work my self but i have got a mechanic at hand if ness.

Its all on the drawing board atm but i want a show car something that i can look at and think WOW! and i can look at it and think ive "made that" if ya get ma drift!

cheers

The only way you are going to get something big and allow the car to steer, is to put it in the back.

The sky is the limit, but look at an Audi V6 or 1.8T, both of which have the box on the back.

You could use a Subaru flat four, if you take the centre diff out the box and run in 2 wheel drive.

Just some suggestions, but £5K isn't going to come close.

Cheers

hmmmm i see! am trying to keep the engine in the front really, as i am a fan of ICE. hmmmm loads to think about! Well im going to have to do some research so ill do that and come back with some ideas (y)

Cheers for input!

Will need to be light then, so that kinda rules out the UT 1300/1400.

Charged FIRE 1400cc 16v says you'll melt the gearbox no bother :D

As far as I know it was a plain old YB Cossie lump out of an Escort or somesuch, tweaked a little. Was featured in PPC last year. They're pretty expensive lumps.

For a budget like that (provided you can do much of the fab yourself), why not go for a 3 litre Alfa V6? I was thinking that you can pick up a running and MOTd 166 with lsd for around 2 1/2 grand. Sell off the bits you don't want, get maybe a grand back. The real trick is in the suspension, but a few folk do Stratos replicas which use the V6, and you could pick up components from them (wishbones, uprights, etc.). These engines supercharge pretty well, and are commonly taken out to 4 litres, but that could wait a little. ;)

If you can't do most of the fab yourself, it's pretty much out of the question for that kind of budget and you should look at the Emma/Aaron/Jon project (especially now that they've done all the development work)!

NA, that should put out a solid and utterly reliable 110/115bhp. I'm pretty sure there's enough room in there for a Rotrex supercharger, in which case 160+ would probably be on the cards. :yum:

Enough to be really really fast.

200BHP in a 700Kg car with really good grip off the mark would make 0 - 60 in the mid 4's no problem.

Any links to the Cossie Cinq ? and if we are going mad at this stage, the daftest engine i would use would be a Yamaha R1 Bike engine, turbo it, and have a 400BHP Cinq, in a car that probably weighs less than the stock car..

Bigger is not always better ;)

I dont think there is an actual link to it but there is a scanned shot of the article on the mag which has been posted on here so you will ave to do a search

But as long as we're talking in cliches
You can't beat cubic capacity

Well, OK, but won't make much power till 5,000 plus rpm, by which time even Mr. Molehusband will have vanished. Fine for the track, pretty useless for the road.

ud go 2 yards down the road hit boost and melt the pistons mate and y on earth would u want an R1 engine... if u wanna go into the realm of bike engines throw 2 busa OR slam in 2 GSX 1400 engines in it dry sump em link the trottles and think about LOW pressure Turb's to them and have em drivin one of the front wheels each!!

Sit down and think about what you're trying to achieve & how you're going to go about it. You seem to be making the mistake of going 'I'm going to make the fastest Sei' ever'
