The drivers side seat in my sporting is very poor (LHD), I'm wondering if it's possible to swap the drivers and passengers seats around (seat buckles etc).

Most seats are specific to that position and are often offset as well.
The lifter handle will be on the wrong side but otherwise the seats are transposable.
If your driver's seat is worn out, buy a passenger seat from a UK car. It'll be brand new compared to a new driver's seat from Europe (Left hand drive).
Look at UK eBay for breakers who can ship it.. or pick it up when you're here on holiday.

Thanks to both of you, guessing shipping a seat from the UK to the EU will be quite expensive (mostly due to customs). Keeping an eye out locally but it's pretty dry. Worst case I'll swap the current two around, will live with the lifter handle since I plan on removing the rear (useless) bench anyway, good luck sitting there if you're over 180
