I've got a hgt 155, starts and idles fine, when you put you foot on the accelerator gently it revs up fine but soon as you put the accelerator straight to the floor it sputters and misses! Coilpacks seem ok and spark plugs look good! Any ideas??

my old petrol Corsa did this when one of the fuel pump vanes disintigrated and took out most of its neighbours, i managed to clear the debris and get it working enough to get to and from work for a few days while my online order was processed.
long story short, have you checked fuel pressure/delivery?

by the same token, building the revs slowly , but keeping the rev's up
( high FUEL Demand) should also cause the issue..?? :bang:

worth trying the inline fuel filter 1st I suppose;) , cheap + easy, (y)

im possibly misunderstanding your wording/intention here, but, my fuel pump experience (and gut instinct, with regards to other vehicles) says that slowly revving up to high RPMs with no load, would not draw enough fuel to cause the symptoms mentioned by the OP.
with a sickly pump, i could also rev the engine to 6k when not moving (granted, it was only a 1.4L single point injection engine), but when accelerating, i had to feather the throttle to avoid spluttering and juddering up to speed.
regardless, keep us posted on progress and i hope you get it sorted Damien.
cheers

Thanks guys for your replys(y) I've replaced the spark plugs no joy! I've looked at replacing the fuel filter but apparently on the hgt's the filter is built inside the fuel tank and there not changeable, someone said on the forum that they got that info from fiat! I've had lambdas go before in different cars but there never sputtered like the bravo which draws me to other things! Perhaps the issue could be fuel pressures as you've all stated. So will loom at fuel pump, injectors?? Possibly air mass sensor??

sorry - UNCLEAR..

I meant drive in 2nd / 3rd gear on a decent Straight road,
so see if it ran out of puff ( fuel supply),

I completely agree it will probably run fine sat still in Neutral,;)

good to hear from you again,(y)

Charlie

sorry wrote at same time as you Damien..,

injectors is unlikely to REALLY effect it as "probably" only 1 cylinder

fuel restriction will effect virtually everyting apart from tick-over + starting,
Charlie

P.S. = if you struggle - ask in the Coupe section - as they will be on VERY similar technology,

Why not try the old trick that is always used with the N/A 20V engines.
Unplug the MAF and try how it behaves.

Mine did that under load, good going until 4000rpm, then a wall and after that it started accelerating again. And it was the MAF.

I've noticed a spilt in the air pipe which goes from the throttle body to the MAP sensor!! I've took it off and sealed it with tigerseal. Gonna leave it to set for a day and pop it back together tomorrow at some point. Then will check the MAP sensor.

I've connected all th pipe work up and started the engine and still sputtering! So I disconnected the MAF and it revs fine sputtering gone. So need new MAF sensor. Thanks everyone for your help and replys (y)

glad you sussed it,(y)
AND didn't waste money on parts you didn't need,
( the yellow smiley gives a "thanks" ;)),
Charlie

glad you figured it out and posted the results too. (y)

ah i'm very often lurking in the backround, reading here and there, i'm on the forum most days in fact, but i rarely post unless there is something of value that i feel i can add.
