Just out of interest, has anyone ever done an engine replacement in there stilo?
whether it be a small engined stilo replaced with a larger stilo engine...

or another engine from a different car altogether?

im not considering doing this at the moment, just wondered if it had been done realy..

and any examples, links, threads, pics etc would be interesting. :)

Well, my mate with the Pug is going to get a 106GTi engine to replace his 1.1 at some point. A mate of his has done 6 or 7 of them and does them for mate's rates, which is basically beer and snacks. All he'll have to do is source the donor car from the scrappy or the classifieds. Standard going rate for non-mate's rates was quoted at £750, but think that'd be rather variable depending on where you go.

I'd certainly be intrigued by a Stilo with a 20v Turbo Coupe engine, could get a rather healthy HP figure with that. Thing is though, with an engine conversion, why not go for another Italian engine like perhaps one from an Alfa? I think one of the 4-cylinder one's would be best, though you could always go mental and fit a 3.2 250hp engine from a GTA :D

Or, if you truly wanted a first...you could always take the engine and running gear from a Lancia Integrale Evo, though I think that would be stretching the boundaries of common sense somewhat :D

Thing is though, I haven't personally seen any Stilo engine conversions done, so there may not be an easy point of reference for the actual conversion or how easy/costly it may be for ANY engine to be put in. However, that doesn't mean to say it can't be done.

Why not do a rwd Stilo? Put the 2.0T from the Coupe in the boot, and have yourself a fun car! Would be a lot of work though. You could put the 1.4 engine in the coupe to use as your every day car!!!

Or why not leave the 1.4 in there to turn the front wheels? Would make for an interesting and rather unbalanced 4wd set up :D
