I dont know if you have sorted your problem out as i canny botherd reading all the posts!

But i do know whats worng with your car! I had the same knocking noise, mainly when i had just turned the engine OFF. A loudish clunking noise and regular intervals. It ended up costing me 800 squid! The timing belt was knackered, i ended up leaving theproblem too long and killing the compression in the head and bending all the valves. Take it to garage fast!

Spoke to the guy at the garage and stright away he said "I know what that is...its the hydrolic tappets..."

Which filled me with a lot of confidence, seeming he was on the end of a phone, and hadn't even seen the car!

The car is booked into the garage, but he has no room until Thursday
