Morning all. Where on the www can i put my engine number to establish my engines specifications. Its a 66 plate 130 mulitijet registered in Feb 17 which i thought was euro 6 but doubt has been put in my mind, this was the change over period and came about when i started looking for engine oil with both 0w-30 and 5w-30 both being recommended. Thanks in advance

One way of knowing is the type of fuel filter that is fitted. If it is a complete canister replacement it is euro5, if it is a metal canister with replacement element it is euro6.
I also think that a euro6 has a letter in 12th position of the VIN whilst the euro5 is a number.

Hi busdennis

Don't know about UK, but...

In Australia, we can go on a Motor Factor type website (Supercheap), and put in our rego number, which will bring up some info about the vehicle

I am sure that I saw something similar, when I was surfing the net one day, looking to buy parts from UK

so the original confusion was that i believe 0w-30 was for euro 6 and 5w-30 is for euro 5. Using online retailers my reg would suggest 5w-30 which i think is incorrect. i cannot find which oil is suggested in the handbook

thanks again. Been searching the handbook and ive found the recommended oil to be SELENIA WR P.E. Which is 5w-30 which is what was recommended by the online sellers. firstly i wonder what's been used for the last 3 years lol. I'm thinking 0w-30 is the way forward and the handbook is incorrect

What print issue is the handbook? I know that early euro 6 models were delivered with 'old' handbooks. This is what one owner said on a forum in 2017 when he had the very same problem with oil type and specification:
" At the bottom of the last page of my handbook there is a Print Number : 603.99.772 – 05/2015 – 1st*edition despite being shipped with a 2017 model. The correct handbook for Euro 6 models is Print Number. 603.91.187 – 03/2017- 3rd*edition."

The handbook I have is dated print issue 1 07/2019 and I have attached a photo of the oil spec page

Thanks for all your help buddy. Yes my hand book number is 603.99.772 IE wrong.
The mistake also carry's on to the data base used by 90% of online retailers who all recommend the wrong oil. Worrying indeed :(. Like i already stated i do wonder what oil has been used for the last 3 years

Unless you live in Antarctica, and as long as you are using an oil that meets the relevant Fiat specification, whether it is 0W30 or 5W30 won't make a ha'porth of difference to your engine. All it does is allow Fiat to specify an emission rating a few microgrammes lower and reduce the penalties they have to pay the EEC for the amount by which the averaged fleet emissions limits are exceeded across their vehicle parc.

last question buddy and i will let you enjoy the rest of your day. im getting my order together for an engine service, what would you buy for the pollen filter A standard
B Activated Carbon or C Activated Carbon with Fungicidal Effect?
