Hi there,
as you can I'm a newcomer. Can anybody tell me which year my engine is from on my 500? Engine number : Fiat 110F 000 -3031268,

If that is the VIN number/chassis number, the number on the little metal plate and stamped on the chassis below it inside the bonnet? It's a 1972. If it is the engine number then it would be better to get the Chassis number.

No, it's not the VIN tag. The number I've posted is stamped on the engine!

When I bought my 500 there was a 'dispute' as to the size of its engine---it was either a VERY quick 595 or a reasonably quick 652. The query was settled by the 'Homologation Executive' at Fiat UK (who was able to confirm that it was a 652). He was NOT however able to date the engine, only the chassis number. It would seem that there is NO way to date an engine.

110F 000 means that either the engine belonged to a Fiat Nuova F made 1965 - 1972 or a Fiat L from 1968 - 1972. Now the 3031268 number indicates, like what was stated before, you have a motor made in 1972; motor serial number range - 1972 from n° 2993913 to n° 3096091. The motor: 110F.000 originally was 499,5 cc and 18 hp. If you look under the hood up front, below the name plate there should be a number stamped into the sheet metal. It should be 110F 000 (if not motor type does not match), but unfortunately it will not tell you if it is the original motor. Only historical paperwork (libretto circolare) would be able to match motor to car. Hope this helps.
