i posted on here a while ago reporting an engine problem, very lumpy acceleration, it went into the fiat garage and after 8 hours, more coils, more injectors and a wiring loom rebuild, the problem is still there - luckily the garage is taking the stilo in part ex for a new 500 so they didn't charge much for the time. :)

but i think it's more than electrical, it sounds like a belt has gone (someone described the sound like when you used to put a card in the spokes of your bmx) and then recently when i go round a corner (not neccessarily a fast one) i get a low oil pressure warning - so is the car eating itself?

it's a 2002 1.6, done 57500 miles and had a cam belt change a few months ago - i'm getting 1k in part exchange, which i thought was poor, but i might turn out quite good for me if it needs a new engine! :D

and by the way i just wanted to say a final thank you to everyone here on the stilo section, you've all been a real help over the last two years of my stilo ownership and without you i'd have felt completely frustrated and worried every time i heard the dredded 'beep beep beep'!(y)(y)(y) nice to know there are some decent people in the world! haha! not too sure about the 500 section either, i never got the warm welcome that i got when i joined here, and some people are saying it's bitchy - ouch!

low oil pressure warning on corners, is low oil level, the rattle

tappets
cams
bottom end

lumpy acceleration, id say head gasket

mine ran had a power problem, go stop, go stop, had all sort replaced.

in the end they noticed black smoke on hard acceleration, so they checked the head and it was shot.

this is my second engine, my first, had beep beep beep, low oil pressure, and a very rattly sound, and a lack of power, it was my bottom end.

Get as replacement engine from a scrap yard and drop it in. Don't spend any time or money on this engine. It sounds like bottom end gone.
I thought that was only an Abarth feature, but I suppose it can happen to others.

i have a fiat stilo 1.8 dynamic 3dr......engine is making a whistling noise and low oil pressure comes up on dash....when i loosen the oil cap noise goes away.......any ideas ???????
