Please Please HELP me..
My 1999 Bravo 100 16V, is killing me I'm pissing blod because my Engine jumps (it's not the tires)
Sometimes it wont start unless i crank the gas pedal to the floor, and other times when i'm holding still with the engine on, the RPM rises from 850 to approx 1100 + the gage in the speedometer rises too,to about 5-10 KMH....
I've been at my lokal Fiat shop a number of times, they just put on the TESTER and it reads no error, therefor they tell me that there's nothing wrong..
If there's anyone who know's what I should do, I would really appriciate it..

Injectors

Complete guess but maybe putting some injector cleaner through it might help?
If there is dirt in it, the dirt will make the mixture leaner - and so make it rev slightly higher. Could also give the starting problems you describe.

Its either a sticking idle valve or duff injectors. the injectors on the 1.6 are known dodgey anyway. (my 97 1.6 has eaten 3 in 2 years)

You can try a bottle of injector cleaner but it probably wont do much. Also might be worth changing the fuel filter. Could be there is some crap in the tank.

Best of luck, changing the injectors is a bitch of a job and Fiat charge the earth!

Re: Re: Engine jumps

In conjunction with fuel injector cleaner, give it an "Italian Tune-Up". I.e. redline it through every gear on the motorway and do 70 in forth for about 10 miles.

That will blow the cobwebs out and clean most things out - cat, lambda sensor, injectors etc.

Italian tune up

When I worked in sales (Lexus, what what eh!) I used to take cars out for an 'Italian Decoke' but never understood what is meant by the term. Decoke, sure but what about the italian side of it?

Re: LOL

The "Italian" side of it is in reference to the Italian driving style - that's allegedly how they drive all the time :)

Re: Re: LOL

Italian Driving! Oh my god!! I've ben to Italy a few times and the odd once or twice have been in the major citys (milan, genoa) And yes there driving is nothing short of crazy and I mean scary crazy. When Driving into the Alps I can recall several different occasions where Italian drivers nearly forced me off the road. Usually on roads where there is a 300ft dropto boot!!

The same a applys to france too however as soon as you get out of the French city centres it all becomes nice and relaxing again.

RPM problems

sounds like the problem I'm having with an X 1.2 Brava. Mines just gone into Vickers in Telford and they're replacing the throttle body - don't really know what it is but network Q are paying so I don't care really - £280+ labour.

Re: RPM problems

Tom,

What are the signs of a busted injector?

Re: Re: RPM problems

Got a problem with mine, now and then after a long drive when I turn the engine back on it sometimes goes to the 800rpm mark (normal) then jumps to 1500rpm then back down to 800rpm and so on and so on, one time this happened I turned off the engine and the started it again then the revs started to go up and up got as far as 3000rpm then turned it off (no pressure on the accelerator). Any way took it to the garage and they said I need a new throttle body but garage is also paying for it.
