Tuning Engine Failure Warning

Hi,

I have noticed recently that my ignition is taking longer to turnover and sometime it would reset the clock and my stereo would say Comcand (I think) but once you turn off the car and re-start it is fine. However, today I had the engine failure light come on.

Any ideas?

Sound like the battery has failed. Mine did much the same.
I went for a posh Bosch as it was only £20 more than the 2/3 years warranty yobbo brand version.

when you turn it over and it tkaes longer to come on, does the clock restart?

My battery had an internal short circuit. Sometimes it would start the car; another time, dead flat. It also caused the steering light to come on - voltage was low. I'd bet that's what's causing the engine management light to come on.
