Engine cut out - any ideas?

Hi folks,

A couple days ago my engine cut out when I was driving. I was coming down in speed at the time to turn off the main road, and the thing just died. It started up again first time and ran fine after that. I thought it might be the oil as I think it had been running very low, and I'd just had it on a long journey down south.

Put it in for an oil & filter change, and the same things just happened turning into my drive - down from the 3rd gear with my foot on the clutch and it just locked. Its all started making a dry whirring sound - hard to describe but a sort of futfutfut coming from under the bonnet when its driving. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I stick it into a garage.

try changing the plugs and leads...i can alomosy guarantee thats what it is!

but what do you drive?

Sorry, it's a Fiat Brava 1.4, P-reg. I'll look out the old Haynes manual and see what damage I can do.
