hiya ,is there any one in Scotland/North England that can do an engine conversion on a spi seicento sporting abarth ....eg 1.4 t jet or the panda 100hp basically something with 100bhp plus or whats the general thoughts these days ? the car its self doesnt need any work and has the punto gt brake upgrade so essentially a simple enough project.

if you can help please either Pm me or let me know via a post with a rough price too

thanks

Historically, the members of this forum have done work themselves so I doubt anyone is going to be able to suggest anyone who can do the work for you. Why don't you want to do it yourself? It'd certainly be cheaper.
If you absolutely insist on having a garage do it, you're probably better asking some local car groups or googling for Fiat specialist garages in the area.

tbf the only real tricky and time consuming part of a 16v swap is sourcing all the bits which you'd have to do anyway. Once you got the parts the swap is simple and everything you would need to know is well covered.
You may get a better response asking for help rather than just asking someone on here to do it, most members don't work on cars as a job, its a hobby and we have jobs, family etc etc to deal with and struggle to complete our own projects let alone do someone elses for them.. Traditionally (not just here on fiatforum but in car life as a whole) engine swaps is not something a normal garage will do or even be interested in - you'd be more looking for a specialist tuning garage.

So as above really, if you want it then you are gonna have to put in some effort, the info and support to complete such a task is here - and plenty of members would be happy to help out - heck if you werent at the literal other end of the country and I had time to spare I'd pop over and help do the swap for nothing more than a constant supply of cups of tea.

lol BUMP 8 years on and never found anyone that would take on a job ,i could do it if i had my own garage but i dont but do have the funds for someone to take this on but sadly these days no one even in the trade wants to know ,,,so it looks like my 1998 abarth sei ex show car will be getting scrapped thanks to the unavailbilty of simple parts ,,namely and fuel pressure regulator diapham a 12 quid part scraps a car ...mental

Well sadly the days of £5 throttle body from any scrap yard disappeared a long long time ago.
parts arent that hard to find though. Italian ebay is absolutely full of parts, loads of fiat breakers around that would prob find one if you asked, some come up on a search on ebay instantly with 5 seconds effort, facebook groups.. Have you actually tried even looking.?

This doesnt sound like something to scrap a car over, heck just take the innards out the regulator and use a cheap aftermarket one after it instead, would cost like £20 and half hour.
I feel myself leaning towards my advice of 8 years ago, you gotta use your own hands and brain if you want the thing.. I don't mean to sound rude but in all my years, its been pretty rare to have a space to work on a car in a garage. You can do a engine swap on the side of the road if you want it. In 8 years you've had time to learn and do it or find someone to help and guide you. We were all here, all you had to do was start doing it and we were here to help the whole time.

Edward Labinjoh has been around the Italian car scene up here for more years than I can remember. Give him a ring and see what he might have to say. What he's forgotten about Italian cars is more than most of us have ever learned. https://www.labinjoh.co.uk/ I haven't been in contact with him for years but used to talk with him when he had his mews garage Torphicken street way many years ago. An absolute encyclopedia of knowledge

Another couple of establishments who are very into Italian stuff are McLennan's Garage in Loanhead https://www.mclennansgarage.com/. I don't know them but have heard good reports. I think the owner was a previous employee of Fishers Alfa Romeo. That concern closed in the 90's but was a much revered establishment very much involved in racing the cars too. Local to me is Kenny Harrison's in Leith - on the trading estate in Jane Street. I've known them for a number of years and take my cars there for MOTs and "emergencies" when I either don't have the time or can't manage any more due to me being a decrepit old fart these days! Harrisons specialises in Fiats but is more of a typical small family business in that they'll take on almost anything which ends up on their doorstep. I think he may also be an ex Fishers man? Must ask him next time I'm talking to him. I'd be surprised if either of them would take on your project but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
