Hi all.
I have a Ducato 20011 3.0L
Occasionally I get a clunking sound in the engine bay but more under my feet I’d say, when you change into reverse and pull away, and occasionally then when I more forward. Particularly if there is resistance like reversing up hill.
Any idea what it could be?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Could be the gearbox mount;

Hi Your clunk would seem to be happening when there is a high torque being transmitted to the front (driven) wheels. This torque is resisted by the engine/gearbox mounts, which should allow only a small fore/aft movement of the engine. The direction of movement will be the opposite way round when in reverse. As suggested above, check for wear or failure of the bonded rubber mounts. Also check the exhaust system in case any part is close enough to occasionally touch the bodywork / floor etc.

Thanks Anthony. I’ll get under it this weekend. Do you know if it is a gearbox mount problem, if they are easy enough to fit? Mine is the 3.0L engine.

Also do you know if there is a manual available for just pointing out where various parts are and how to replace, something like a Haynes manual would be handy. I can’t find anything on line.

Are you suffering clutch judder as well?
I had this and replaced the rear mount. Like the one pictured.
Big tightening torques otherwise not too difficult to do.

Fiat eLearn for the x250 is available in the "Downloads " section, for which see the black banner at the top of the page, It is a very large file with a.zip extension. From memory There may also be a guide for downloading and decompressing. eLearn runs under Windows, so you will need a computer with that operating system.
