General Engine advice wanted

At present we have an 2006 Autotrail Mohican, which has a MTPLN of 3850kg and is fitted with a 2.8JTD.
We are looking to change the motorhome, but there seems a lot of different Fiat engines in them, i.e. 2.3, 2.8, and the 3 litre.
So I am looking for the pros and cons on them especially performance, MPG and pulling power etc., can anyone please advise ?

Hi. I had the 2.8 jtd on a 3500kg motor home it had plenty of power on the flat but not so good on the long inclines over the Pyrenees, sometimes down to second gear, I think that was 125bhp.

Personally I would be looking for something above 140bhp but more power usually means more fuel, so you need to decide what is more important to you power or economy.
