My time with the multi as come to an end today, clutch gone and gea

r stick broken away from linkage so I think it's time to ring the scrappy because I don't want to spend no more money on her. So will see what I can get for her.

Very sad but probably a wise decision. We've just spent a lot of money getting ours back on the road in good condition - in hindsight it was almost certainly time to move on to something newer.

That depends.....

Multiplas (apart from newer square nose ones) have pretty much stopped depreciating now, and that's the single biggest running cost for a lot of cars. Glass's Guide says they're actually going up in value. As luck would have it, there's no current model I know of that does the same job as a Multipla (small package, seats for six people - in full size seats - and their luggage, flat load floor right thru'). So if a Multipla does the job that you ask of it, they make sense, even if you do have to spend out on repairs.

In one of the car mags I was reading over Xmas, there was a rather obscure list in the car specs section showing MPVs (of 6 seats or more) in order of length. The shortest was 4.4m long. When I looked at the details for that 'shortest' car, it had less head and leg room than the Multipla and less luggage space too. So, thought I, what exactly are they f'ing doing with the extra 16 inches of car length? The Multi is a marvel of packaging and beats pretty much everything else in that respect.

I agree with all that you say, the design of the Multipla is marvelous and suits our requirements to a T. Also love the look of the round-nose version. Its just that if you have to rely on a dealer for repairs it don't come cheap

There we are then buy it off me get the gear box and clutch and you have a cheap 53 plate multi : )

I think if you took a 2003 multi and stuck it in a barn for 20 or 30 years it would make a great classic car when you pulled it out.
