That depends.....
Multiplas (apart from newer square nose ones) have pretty much stopped depreciating now, and that's the single biggest running cost for a lot of cars. Glass's Guide says they're actually going up in value. As luck would have it, there's no current model I know of that does the same job as a Multipla (small package, seats for six people - in full size seats - and their luggage, flat load floor right thru'). So if a Multipla does the job that you ask of it, they make sense, even if you do have to spend out on repairs.
In one of the car mags I was reading over Xmas, there was a rather obscure list in the car specs section showing MPVs (of 6 seats or more) in order of length. The shortest was 4.4m long. When I looked at the details for that 'shortest' car, it had less head and leg room than the Multipla and less luggage space too. So, thought I, what exactly are they f'ing doing with the extra 16 inches of car length? The Multi is a marvel of packaging and beats pretty much everything else in that respect.
