The cars been running fine then all of a sudden after a short drive after turning the ignition off it sounded like the ignition was still on or turning but the car was not trying to start just the ignition turning
The battery died (because the ignition was stuck on) so we jump started the car and as soon as the jump leads attached the car started up with the key in the ignition but the key was not turned enough to start the car ( just turned enough to light the dash when it has power)
The car ran for a few min but we could still hear the starter on was on while the engine was running the all of a sudden the car dies again and we get no power. we tried to jump start again but the battery was now shorting every time we attached the cables.
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? is the starter motor dead? is it just a starter switch gone? or have we done some real damage to ecu etc?
I dont understand why the battery is shorting shouldnt a fuse have gone before it came to this?
we are trying a new starter tomorrow but any help or advise that might help us along would be great
Thanks
