Technical EGR but not EGR ?

how do,

the engine warning lights been on/off/on for a while, had it checked as being the egr, so had it looked at and allegedly 'freed/cleaned up' but afterwards I had to give it another 1k of revs for it to even go anywhere, so took it to another garage to just have the egr valve replaced, had this done but the light would still come on and when the egr was plugged in it would need the extra but unplugged it would act fine but the light would be on...... the garage think it may be a wiring issue somewhere else?

Anyone else had an egr issue that wasn't the actual egr?

Have the pipe's from the exhaust the the egrand the egr to the inlet been checked and cleaned these could be filled with gunk

Fixed that for him, I think!

I gave her a spray or 2 of the diesel egr cleaner in her before I got the egr replaced, which did seem to clear a fair amount of soot etc going by the smoke that came out of the exhaust...but alas it wasn't enough..... :-(
