Hi everyone.

Im a newbie to this forum. I have been coming and reading the posts for a while but could never be arsed to sign up, because usually the sign up's for things on the net take ages and i couldnt be bothered but now i realise it was very quick.

Anyway on to my subject Tuning and ECUremapping.
I have seen some posts on here before about ECU remapping and some people wanted it done but couldnt find any where who does it for fiat bravo's. Whoever posted wanted people to email angel tuning to see if they would do it if they had enough interest etc. However, if people are still interested in getting this tuning mod done then i know of a great place that do it called "Scot's Motortune". I dont know if any one still wants it done and where abouts your all from but this place is in Dover. I live in Deal which is about 7 miles from Dover and i have been over and had a chat with this tuning shop, and they are superb. They will do a Fiat Bravo ECU remap tune for £450. This add's a minimum of 11bhp and 10% more torque to your bravo. Its a software and hardware tune. My mate has just had this done on his 1.4i sx and it does make a huge power difference. Im hopefully getting mine done in a couple of weeks. If anyone is interested in this still, then please reply to this or email me ([email protected]) and i can give ya some more details of the tune and shop location etc etc.

Apologies for the long post

I may be wrong but I think Nige does it cheaper than that and he also gives a dicount to BOO members.I also think he is based quite centraly in to country and also travels around to do this remapping. I'm sure he'll put you straight when he reads this post anyway.

Cheers Martin L. ;)

Nige can not do bravos...he was going to buy the software but never did as there wasnt enough interested. Please correct me if i am wrong nige!

£450, seems quite steap, i am very interested in getting this done though....Would you be able to find out what out put my bravo would have, standard its 113bhp, i have a K&N, full supersprint stainless and sports cat, and an ecoteck valve...although these on there own dont make much difference i believe that they do help on a remap?

Also, does this company give a rolling road read out to prove their figures? a before an after!

£450 is very expensive for just a software remap.

Does it involve a run on a rolling road and tuning exactly to your car?

Think it must do! otherwise they will not be getting my money!!!

Paul R

P.S. they do sau hardware aswell

Well for about that money you could get a piggyback ECU and 2 hours on the rollers tuning it perfectly for your car.

Next year! :)

This is something i really want to do.. as i have got used to the power (i know it aint a ferrari but it was quick to me) of my 1.8 and want a bit more...

What bhp do you think i will be running at tom with a good ecu remap or piggyback with all my little added mods aswell, i have heard that this add ons like K&N and fullstainless actually make good improvements when you do remaps etc, on a standard car they just make more noise!

Thanks for convincing me to stick with my supersprint, it sounds lovely, it aint to noisy either! unless you want it to be!! which i love!

As i said the remap includes hardware and software. Im sure they would provide a rolling road print out. As i say they are a superb shop and seems extremely helpful and didnt talk any crap. £450 is a bit steap i know, but its worth it. If your putting out 113bhp at the mo and with ya other mods i would have thought it would give you at least a 15bhp increase and 10 or more % torque. I will check it out for you if you email me your details of bravo, mods etc to get you a precise figure. If anyone is definately interested send me an email ([email protected]) and ill send ya the phone number, shop location etc, as i need to get all the stuff i got from the shop out my mates car.

You live in Deal?!

So do I :) And there isn't many Bravo's I've seen about the place. I musta seen you on the roads sometime! (for those who don't know Deal.. its a tiny town full of old people).

Sent you a mail anyhow.

****, that is expensive! We only charge £150 for a 1.2 and £60 for a dyno run. The JTD is £300 (all prices are inclusive).
If they are providing a piggyback ECU to do it and a RR run then £450 is quite good. Make sure the £450 is all inclusive though.
I may give em a call next week to see if I can pass off some others to them. Let us know how you get on if anyone contacts them.
We didn't buy the equipment to do the other Bravo's as I didnt get enough interest - and as I was only doing so to please you lot (I made less than £10 in my pocket on each one at £330!) we invested in the diagnostic kit instead. Maybe later this year....

FAO Nige

Without actually looking up past thread, I thought Nige in association with Angel Tuning already offered re-mapping for all bravo's but the HGT's, for which Nige had been appealing with others to raise enough interest to make the groundwork worthwhile in order to perform the tuning on HGT's.

Is this (correct) still the case? Because my HGT would love a toonup! What otherwise more conventional means of fine tuning are there incidentally. Any insights / advice?

Yeah, the hardware as is the ECU. They provide another ECU as far as i know, which he may have meant a piggyback but not sure. Ive got to get back over there and get some more specs etc anyway. And ill let ya all know ASAP. I will post the phone number etc 2moro and ya can give them a call. If you mention the bravo forum, he will instantly know what ya after, plus i said i would try and get a few people down to him as i know some where interested.

Re: FAO Nige

I've been researching the whole ECU thing for several months and in the end I bought a Dastek uni chip, this is a biggyback ECU and allows your engine/ECU to be re-mapped and was a much better option than my standard ECU re-mapped for a few reasons

mainly because a remap on the standard ECU for what I'm doing to my engine wouldnt have worked very well as the standard ECU doesnt have half as many mapping points as my dastek unit plus after the initial installation of the unit the price of another remap is only the price of a rolling road!

if you're after a quick bit of extra power get youself a super chip

You dont want to be paying any more than £300 including the installation and setup

hope that helps

Re: FAO Nige

The dastek is quite flexible. Compared to some after market ECUs its got very few map points though. The Emerald has 4x as many and the Marelli have something daft like 16x more!

I will be getting either a dastek or an SMT6 in the future.

Re: FAO Nige

hmm very few map points you say Tom, always nice to see near enough everything I say you try to in some way contradict

any way

if were gonna get all "I know more than you" etc etc

The dastek unit has 2 mapping points, in my case one for normal running and one when I hit the nitrous switch,

vus advancing the ignition and retarding it for nitrous

Re: FAO Nige

Um, thats something different from mapping points Rob :)

The dastek and the SMT6 can have dual maps for as you say nitrous and non-nitrous or road and track etc.. Very useful feature. Drive on the motorway with an MPG tuned map and then flick to something more powerful when you want some fun.

Map points are the number of different rev, throttle, air flow/pressure values the ECU uses to determine the fuel and ignition.

ie the SMT6 piggyback uses 16 rev points and 8 throttle points to make up an 16x8 grid of ignition values. Not very good if you have a 12,000RPM revmonster as then your map points are getting too far apart to get smooth running.

The Emerald M3D ECU has a 32x16 ignition map, the marelli has (from memory) 64 RPM points.

Re: FAO Nige

Cheers for that thomas

I wish I'd have been much more descriptive now as it was fairly obvious you were gona do a copy and paste from the dastek site PMSL

hows your bravo coming on then? still standard bar the exhaust and battery termianls LMAO!

Re: FAO Nige

No copy and paste here :) The dastek website is awful! Thats from chatting with the UK Dastek importer and my local PerfectPower dealer.

Yup, all stock apart from the filter, exhaust and got a new cat too. Got a horrible midrange hole so need to get it sorted but keep spending money elsewere.

You fitted the rotrex yet? :)

Re: FAO Nige

still not got round to it lol, as I've been making alot of custom parts for the Bravos interior (plus numerous engine conversions for people too) so that job took a side line but I have absolutley everything I need for the job so its just a case of fitting it all

hopefull by the end of the month to mid july at the latest
