Hi,
I'm trying to ascertain the ECU of my ADRIA camper which is based on the FIAT Ducato.
When I input the VIN number I get the reply "Vehicle inserted is not a FIAT Professional brand" Yet on the vehicle it says FIAT Professional.
Where do I go from here? Any ideas please?

Hi

MultiECUScan software will display the ECU model and 'write date'

Look on the members register :)
Thank you varesecrazy for your reply. I’m completely green in this modern diesel technology. Will the Autel MaxiAP AP200 [recommended on MultiECUScan] enable me to both discover the ECU number and update it if required?

Yes, I live in north Cardiff. A suburb called Whitchurch. 2.5 miles off M4 junction 32.

I'm a little confused as to what you are trying to do? Are you attempting to read the VIN from the vehicle's ECU? Many quite cheap basic OBD readers have that function, although others don't. If you are getting the error you quote when entering the VIN on the Fiat website, check what you are entering. There are no letter "O"s or "I"s in a VIN. Where those characters may seem to appear, they will be numeric, e.g. "0" or "1".

If you are trying to obtain the ECU software revision number, I'm not sure why you are mentioning the VIN? MES as stated will be able to read the ECU SW number. You say you want to update it "if required". MES cannot do that. Any updates that may exist can only be obtained through a link to the Fiat Technical Portal with a subscription, which requires proof of commercial status in a required automotive business activity. The easy way to obtain an update is to request a Fiat Professional garage to carry it out through their dedicated diagnostic equipment. Even if you could obtain a subscription to the Fiat portal yourself, it's not something that MES can do. You would need a paid Fiat Tech Portal subscription and a suitable J2534 pass thru device approved by Fiat as compatible for third party connection. The cost of suitable equipment is generally in the region of £2,000 or more.

Thank you RS3100 for you reply.
My camper based on a Ducato 2.3, Multijet 2, 130 (pre-adblue) is very sluggish, needing me to change down even on minor inclines.
I’m thinking of having it re-mapped but before going down that route I want to be sure that my ECU has the latest update as I understand that this should help with the vehicle’s performance. I was hoping to find this information via the VIN but the https://www.fiatprofessional.com/uk/mopar/car-update website did not recognise the VIN as valid. I’m absolutely sure that the number I’m inputting is correct, as you say no ‘i’ or ‘o’. In fact, a different site accepts the VIN.
From the information you supply in your post I think I’ll have to go to a FIAT garage and have the ECU checked and if needed updated. I was hoping that if an update was actually required then FIAT would have instigated a recall.

Thank you again and to the other people who have taken the trouble to reply to my queries.

The problems with the twin egr ecu software has been dealt with by Fiat on a very quiet basis, it is not regarded as a safety issue so no recall. If you are now experiencing issues it may be prudent to get a copy of Multiecuscan and run the tests as suggested in the multiecuscan tutorial suggested in the guides section and post the csv file here. We will look at it and advise. I have analysed a few now.
You say pre ad blue do you know engine type or even year of manufacture.

I’ve downloaded the free version of Multiecuscan to my laptop. And now need to decide which cable I require. My vehicle is a Ducato 2.3, Multijet 2, 130 (pre-adblue) It is a Euro 6 engine.

Unfortunately, for family reasons I have to put my quest to find the number of my vehicle’s ECU on hold. Thank you to all who replied to my queries. I’m hoping to resume the task later in the year.
