Just come back from a uk holiday with lots of eco drive data for my first conection.

Connected usb to PC and was told ecodrive data was found I selected the right profile (the only profile) and the data seemed to download (took about 2 min)

But now there is no data in the desktop aplication and it apears to have gone from the USB stick as well (It still says I have 5 days of data to collect)

Any one had this HELP!:bang:

You need to log 5 days worth of data before it will start recording/reporting on it - this gets an idea of your driving so it can suggest 'improvements'...I tkae it you have more than 5 days' worth of driving on the USB stick?

yes I had about 8 days of data while I was away. But now have no data as it seemed to be deleted from USB stick when i first connected it

I had this exact same issue! I had driven the car for a few weeks (about 7 or 8 times in total for various length journeys, including a couple of 80 mile round trips). I get back, plug the USB stick into my Macbook and it downloads the ecoDrive data, which took a good few minutes. Then when it finished, I clicked on my profile and it said no data available and I had 5 days to collect.

The iFiat folder on the USB stick still has the files i would have expected to see, but they are empty and only 4kb in size which is far too small to have any substantial driving data in them.

Does anyone know how big these files should be for valid data capture for a week or so?

Same problem for me. ecoDrive collected and downloaded data from the beginning of April (when we got our 500) until the beginning of June. I left the memory stick out of the car for a few weeks, but re-inserted it for our tour of Sweden during July and the beginning of August. Data was collected for four weeks. On our return the data transferred itself to the computer OK, but nothing appeared on the graph after June 10th. The data file for some quite extensive driving appears to only occupy 2.5Kb. At this point I lost all interest in ecoDrive but tried again recently when we racked up another 700 miles driving down to Cornwall and back over a ten day period. Again, data was transferred on our return (taking nearly five minutes) but again nothing on the graph since June 10th. This latest batch of data on the memory stick is showing as only 3.1Kb.

During the most recent download session, ecoDrive updated itself, but the new files are stored in the ecoDrive folder as zip files and haven't been automatically installed. I also got a warning that Adobe AIR couldn't update as I didn't have administrator privileges (which I do).

I'm not very impressed with the ecoDrive experience.

Hi Mitch,

I think I spoke to soon. When I re-opened ecoDrive without my USB stick in, it loaded up all my old data, it took a while to build my graphs, but I seem to have all the driving data available since my first trip when I bought the car. I don't know if this was a one-off issue, but it seems for me (on a Mac) that when my data is downloaded from the USB, that it doesn't get displayed until I close and re-open the ecodrive software.

From what I can tell, the EcoDrive data gets removed from the USB stick once it has been downloaded, to save space I guess. Are the file sizes you are quoting from the USB stick? and are they pre or post your download to the eco drive PC/Mac application?

Steve

Hi Steve

The small data file size on my memory stick is after the transfer to the PC. I think your idea makes a lot of sense.

I've just run the ecoDrive software without a stick in the USB port, and new driving data has appeared for just one day - 2nd. September - but nothing else. It may be that my problems have been self inflicted by not having a stick inserted for over a month. I seem to remember reading somewhere that ecoDrive data is stored internally for about 28 days in the absence of a memory stick but only if ecoDrive is enabled via the car's menu system. This data is automatically transferred to any suitable memory storage that might be plugged in to the car's USB port. After a month (?) of internal storage, the memory is flushed and this data is permanently lost. Perhaps it's a good idea to turn ecoDrive OFF when data storage isn't required.

Since I had a 2Gb card of music in the USB for the "missing" month, I need to go and check that out? Could this be where a lot of data is hidden away? I'll check and report back soon.

I'm thinking about a completely fresh start by deleting and re-installing the ecoDrive software on my PC and a "clean" memory stick for data storage. Although I still think the data display on the ecoDrive software is confusing and far too simplistic, I'm prepared to give it another go as the basic idea still has a lot of merit. I just wish I had the skills to get into the raw data being stored by the ecoDrive system. I bet there's some really interesting stuff hidden away in there.

OK - I've tracked down some of the missing data. When I had a close look at the "music" SD card, I found a new folder - iFiat/ecoDrive/Data which contained 1.28Mb of data held in 57 files. This took nearly half an hour to transfer to the PC. What I hadn't realised was just how slowly the ecoDrive software crunches the data and presents to information on the graphical display. The clue was the little spinning wheel icon which was on the screen for 40 minutes as the program dealt with two months worth of driving information. ecoDrive seems to need a lot of system resources while it's sorting any fresh data. Running it in a window while you do other things just makes everything even slower.

I've got a four week gap in August which reflects the period when no memory stick was present. Presumably, any internally stored data was dumped when the memory overflowed?

I think my frustrations must be due to my expectation that things would happen much more quickly on the computer. I don't know if this is because of the sheer amount of data to be processed or sloppy coding in the software. I run a weather station in my garden and download sixteen streams of stored data about once a month. The software for this can analyse and display all the information in words, icons and graphs in about 30 seconds. It also gives a forecast and indicates any extremes or "record" weather events. So why does ecoDrive need quite so long to display it's results?
