guys......i...er....well....I have been watching some Fiat X19's for a long time, just seeing how much they sell for etc, and I saw one a few month ago, that seemed to keep reappearing with bids on it up to £500. So, while out and about today I decided something wasnt right, so id put on a bid of £510, not believing for a second that i'd win................

..............I pigging won it. Now, I want one, i think they are ace and I have always wanted a little classic car, which I believe these X19's are. I dont mind a fixer upper, which this car is (although its MOT and Taxed till later this year, so its driveable i think), my problem is, I still dont believe the auction. I do need to contact the guy, but im a bit nervous. This is the auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271011649652?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

and I got it for £510....which even for a fixer upper, is a pretty good price considering its got mot, tax, and is driving etc. Its at the bottom of the flipping country though, so my issue is getting it home.

has anyone got any experience with cmpanies that collect your car, and deliver it? How do you go about resolving trust issue with regards payment? What securities can I put in place? arrggghhh.....im both excited, and still not convinced this is for real.

what do you think?

This post contains eBay links which may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
http://www.shiply.com - I used them to move my 126 and used a company which had good reviews, it's like ebay in reverse where you put up what you want moved and the locations, and the transport providers bid for your contract, once completed you leave feedback. I've used it a few times since the 126 and had zero problems.

Hire a trailer and go get it .. (y)

Why did you post this in the Stilo section?

The X19 has its own section?
https://www.fiatforum.com/x1-9

In fairness, it's not related specifically to the X1/9, more about vehicle transport and is marked Off-Topic so will appear in LL (where it perhaps should have been posted, but this way is just as good) :)

i put it in off topic, because I "know" you guys a bit better than the x 1/9 section, and value your opinions. Once I own the x19, ill pop onto their section. Right now, I am looking for the sort of responses I have from Eklipse and Shadeyman, so many thanks for those.

I COULD hire a trailer, I do have a 4x4 more than capable of the task, but i think if I can get it trailered up here for a few hundred quid, than thats worth it...does that sound viable?? The cost of hiring a trailer and fuel will probably be more than getting a company to do it for me!

im all nervous....

woah...nice one chap, I just signed up, and almost immediately recieved a reasonable quote for £250!!

I hired a trailer locally(http://www.all-fit.co.uk/trailer-hire.asp) to fetch another Stilo. Only cost me £80 for a weekend hire.

There's a few X19 fixer uppers been posted on here. Have a read they may be of help to fix yours.

cheers Shadeyman, the trailer hire is tempting but I think, for the sake of my nerves, and getting a quote of £250, ill let a pro do it. I reckon with trailer hire and diesel (my maverick isnt exactly economical and it WILL cost be in excess of £150 for a journey like that) the overall cost will be close or more than a contract.

Well my opinion for what it's worth is,

Go and jump in your Stilo and go and have a look at it and suss out the seller and view the car and if everything is in order either get it moved by trailer or drive it as I assume it is drivable.

Now you could take someone with you when you view and if its OK and not dodgy then get it home. I used the RAC's temp insurance cover for a days insurance for that stilo I bought so I could drive it home.
Now having read the ad, He has owned it for 8 years and if that's not what the log book says then I would be asking other questions. I assume he will be sorting out a new number plate as well then.

now then, like i said, i have seen this on ebay before, see attached image.....

even if this turns out to be fully ok and all is well, I will still probably get it collected. I know I should check it over, so Ill probably arrange to get down there before arranging a courier, and make sure it is as described. I dont mind a bit of tat, so if the clutch is ok, gears are ok and the car starts and stops, thats fine by me. Im ok with fixing things up, and ill get it tuned at a proper garage.

I have to say though, im very doubtful about this deal...

oh yeah, never noticed!! If you see someone flashing at you when you are driving your Seicento, its probably me.....!

I'm driving the Pajero at the moment, and live in Kirkburton and work at Emley Moor so you might not see me much, the Paj is easy to spot though :D

in fact, what Stilo you driving? I have seen a few in Huddersfield now (bloody common cars)

I don't have a Stilo, I just reads threads everywhere - I'm omnipresent :D

for what its worth just for the security of picking it up and trusting the seller id prefer to go down and view it anways.

there are some HPI check companies that give you a weeks insurance when you pay the £20 for their hpi so thats cheap. also means that you can check its salability.

ie tells you who is registered owner and if its got any bad history :).

more security. and you get to sort any miss sales there and then to the guy

fair point, although id be less worried about such an old car in terms of HPI. I know some people down there I may be able to check it over for me, maybe even deliver it, so im going to speak to them and see what they say-they are no nonsense chaps, so i wont be getting ripped off, if yuou know what i mean....
