hi folks im thinking of gettin a bravo 2.0 hgt and i was wondering if i can put a dump valve in it coz i saw one in a mag and it had a high pressure dump valve
You dont have to have a turbo to have a dump valve. However your engin has to be running alot of boost for it to work correctly. They will also work on a superchargers. I've seen High pressure dump valves on 2 supercharges before. I don't know if it would work on a normaly aspirated engin though. If any one finds a way to do it I'm all ears! Perhaps the Bravo you saw had a Supercharger on it!?!
Dump valves only work with turbo charged cars, they vent excessive turbo pressure, stop overboosting and prevent engine damage.
As superchargers are directly connected to engine via some direct drive mech' they don't need a dump valve.
Lastly they will not work on naturally aspirated engine's such as HGT.
Cheers Spyder. You are correct a Super supercharged engin dose not 'need' a dump valve. I simply stated that it was possible to use a high pressure dump valve on a supercharged engin. A friend of mine has done this to his Polo G40.
I never saw the April issue. But I know he car you mean as it was for sale in Revs the month after! It was black with what looked like the Indy Kit on it. Was that the one?
Is there any chance you could scan the article in and e-mail it to me?
