Hi, I'm new to this and need help if possible. I have a Ducato 1988 2.5d and 3 teeth have broken off the flywheel causing starting problems. FIAT Dealer said that the new ring gear for the flywheel is obsolete, they can't help. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement flywheel or new ring gear or mine repaired? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have tried ebay etc and just seem to get messed around. Thanks Mick

You can get a good engineering work to weld it fill the void with weld and mill in some new teeth, I imagine you'd get a complete engine from a scrappie for the price of the flywheel from fiat anyway.

Thanks for that, I'm still looking for a scrap engine from the scrapyards, but none available, the flywheels on the newer versions 1994 onwards are different it is difficult to locate one. I will look into the specialist welding though.

Its a straight forward tooth shape not hypoid or anything so a small workshop should be able to do it. If you're having trouble finding someone you could ask the local steam engine guys they'll always know a good machinist that likes to tinker. There are specialist gear cutters but probably overkill in this case. Search yell.com for gear cutters and call a few.

Thanks for the advice, I have just found a 'flywheel' refurb company in North Lincs and they have confirmed that they can repair the flywheel. So I am happy, to say the least. They sent Fedex out straightaway and it is now on its way to them. Cheers Mick.

Super! Can I ask how much it cost just for future reference.
