The lad who bought my 2007 Ducato Maxi from me about 2 years ago is having problems with the alarm.

I can`t remember if I added it as an option or if it came standard ( long time ago .... )

But anyway, the alarm has started going off as and when it wants. No amount of button pressing on the keyfob will shut it up. It goes through about a cycle of maybe 10 howls before it stops itself. Does anyone know what might be wrong, and more importantly for his neighbours, know how to switch it off or disarm it out of the way altogether.

Thanks.

If the fob wont turn it off it may be the siren itself they have an internal battery so if the wires are cut (or it thinks they are it goes off) can be failing internal battery, water ingress wiring etc.

Got to go around all the door/bonnet switches and check they all have good continuity. Ideal would be to intercept the wires to these switches one by one and check the resistance with doors closed. Might be interesting find there and could write a book about conductivity.

Thanks very much for your ideas.

The van is now more than 11 years old so anything could be causing it to malfunction.

I suppose the easiest thing for a start is to find the unit and change any battery found there.
Probably be an expensive visit to a Fiat garage. We have no independent autoelectricians in any shape or form around here.

Will pass on the good news.

If anyone wants to pass on any advice they do not want to be seen in public then I would be extremely grateful if they could PM myself.

Cheers.

Could always replace the door switches yourself, shouldn't cost much as not much too them.
