Hi. I have a Y2000 2.8D Ducato. I recently replaced the 3 part clutch because I had to continually adjust the clutch cable every few days, and assumes that the release bearing of plate was breaking up. Sice doing this, a few month ago, the clutch has been fine, done around 5k miles. Now, the last couple of weeks, Ive had to adjust it a few times, and again today, the take up is very small, getting to the point where the clutch wont disengage, and gear selection gets difficult.
I am now wondering if the clutch or release bearing are not to blame. Maybe the outer cable is pulling through the bulkhead, or somilar. Its too wet and dark to look right now, so thought ide ask on here first.
Does anyone have any experience with this, or other faults re clutch cables and adjustments?

Same feckinidiotti designatoretw*tte who wrecked our gearboxes by ducting rainwater into them prob'ly thought the clutchios ought to be water cooled too.

Not 100% sure, obviously.

Im sorry, I really dont understand that.
Are you saying that water gets into the gearbox and wrecks the clutch? If so, the clutch plate was perfect on the old one I took out, no water in the gearbox, no apparent damage.

No, I'm sorry.
Should have added a smileyface.
Some ducatos do suffer from water ingress to the gearbox. Appallingly bad design.
Second gear synchro seized on mine this afternoon so today designers are close to politicians on my to-do-em list. :)
Wouldn't hurt to check your gearbox oil - when they start to seize it can feel like the clutch is dragging.
Maybe someone else here knows some specific fault that your model is prone to - to me a cable clutch is a cable clutch.
Inner can fray and jam, outer can wear thin on the inside wall and reduce available travel.
Clutch slip can cause enough heat to warp the plate, temper/weaken springs.
If the clutch plate you took out was perfect which part was actually at fault?

Not knowing the construction of the release bearing (it looded different to the new one) I assumed the release bearing was pulling apart slowly, hence having to regularly adjust up the cable. There is no slip, judder etc, and its been fine for several months since putting the new parts in. I was wondering, before I crawl under the van to look, if maybe the exit point of the cable near the pedal is prone to wear or fracture.
