The engine warning light has come on and van has gone into limp mode. I have unplugged the connector to the common rail as the van did have a chip express unit fitted but I have had problems with the chip express wiring lead before. I have plugged the original lead back in situ but van is still in limp mode with the yellow engine on the dash. When the lead is unplugged the van will start as normal but still in limp mode. Can anybody help.

Took van into lacal garage this morning and was plugged in. Came up with fault on EGR valve. They are going to try and clean it tomorrow. Failing that its a new valve. sods law as it went out of warranty at end of Jan.

Spoke to fiat dealsership. Quoted £825.56 to fit new EGR plus labour and VAT. Does anybody know if the EGR can just be cleaned. Dealership says they dont clean them but fit reconditioned. Waiting to hear from Fiat customer services to see if I can get any goodwill but not holding out much hope.

How many miles do you put on the van? Get the fault cleared and drive away on full throttle for a while. It might not happen again, prove the fault is not spurious or electronic before paying for spanner work.

Van has done 94000 motorway miles. Local garage is going to try and clean it tomorrow before getting a new one. Can the EGR be disabled when plugged in to multiscan ?
