My 2010 1.4 dualogic gearbox won't go into gear. When I turn the key to the ignition position and put the gear selector to drive, the actuator on the top of the gearbox makes a "creaky" noise for about 5 seconds. After the sound stops I get the gear malfunction light on the dashboard.
Also, it's quite strange that the car is able to start without pressing the brake even if the gear selector is not in neutral.
The car has been without driving for about a year and with that time its ground cable between the chassis and gearbox was oxidized and broken into pieces. I was wondering if the gearbox control unit could be broken due to bad ground.
