drivin from cold

hi got a 98 s reg brava. starts fine everytime.while its warmin up on light accelerating it seems to be hold back on me.and then when i boot it nothing for a second then it accelerates nice and smoothly. wot's happenin to my nice car??

Have you tried resetting the ECU?

I had a similar problem, the car would lack power until about 1500rpm, then take off as normal...it was slightly better when warm, but still not quite right.

Disconnect the battery overnight, then drive normally for a few days. Worked for me, and it doesnt cost anything. I also found my mpg got a bit better.

Um, its cold and needs to warm up before it will run 100%.

pretty much all bravo/a's have this problem...

however, at the moment i am using shell optimax and my car is fine now, even on the coldest mornings like this morning was. full power right the way through, its made such a big difference, might be worth a try for you if you want to get rid of the slow starts.

i have problems when mine is cold too and its a completely different car.

just make sure it warms up in a reasonable time.


how long does it nomrally take for them to warm up?
