Ot most likely is. You will need a car park and if u fully lock your wheel and hear that clacking noise then that's a define sign. If you type in on YouTube signs of a bad cv then it will provide you with some more tests. But only other way is to jack up car and look under it

To be honest the only sure fire this will be if you see the rubber boots torn and leaking grease there are two behind the wheel and attached to gear box. If there is excessive play that is a pretty good sign so if u pull it left and right and it moves in and out quite abit that's a sign. So really your looking at these

Clacking noise when turning
Damaged rubber boots / leaking grease
Excessive play in and out.

The only next sure fort thing to do is take out cv and move the joints by hand but that's obviously not on the table lol

Also a visual inspection if it is beat to he'll and dented excessively then that is not correct either. What makes you think it's not ur CV what else are you potentially thinking?

thanks for the reply again lol im not sure, i buy and sell cars but i like this car so thinking about keeping it, its a wierd noise tbh i cant really tell you much as i haven't drove it properly due to waiting for my license to come back but it only makes the noise when driving...

So, to make this clear. Does it make noise when you are making a full turn, left or right? Or does it make noise when accelerating?

haven't tried left or right locking yet, only accelerating and it makes the noise

Going straight is a little different but 8t may still be that problem. But with straight what would really make it easy to jack it up and get under car and have someone spin your wheels and try locate the noise.

If you hear dull knocking sound, located somewhere in engine, when accelerating from 1500 to 2500rpm range, and the it dissappears, after that, then I don't know what it is, because I have the same sound and couldn't figure out what it is. Sound is not present when revving in neutral and standing. Btw, I have same engine with same gearbox, dualogic.
