They are doing special offers on Stilo's at richard courts near Manchester, £1500 off and free alloys, plus two years free insurance. I am tepted to go for a test drive in one. Has anybody had a test drive, and which is the best engine and fun car to drive?

I fancy a three door model

I test drove the 1.6 when they first came out and found it quite nice although i didn't feel it had the power of the bravo, i love all the gadgets you can get with them though!

The handling was smooth and i can see them blitzing round bends when lowered, I imagine the 2.5 arnarth with seq gearing could be lots of fun

Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

I quite like the look of the 3 door, but not as much as the bravo. I'd probably get a JTD and then chip it, if they do the 2.4 JTD then get that one - can chip it to near 200bhp.

Re: Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

They dont do the 2.4 in the Stilo yet, but we can get another 35BHP out of the 1.9 without compomise :)

The best petrol Stilo must be the new GT with the 2.4 and a manual box.

With the 2.4JTD we can get OVER 210BHP which will cost you serious money, but the 190+ version we are doing for £300 plus travel.

I had the misfortune to have a 1.2 Stilo for week as a courtesy car. I twas horrible, and no doubt still is. Under powered and sloppy. Even more black plasic than all it's predecessors.

The 1.6 is the same motor as the Bravo, and I'm guessing that the 1.8 is also the same motor slightly tuned as I think it puts out 133bhp as opposed to the Bravo version which was 118bhp (but called a 115).

No doubt someone equally sad will tell me differently?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

I don't suppose the 2.4 fits in a 'normal bravo'. I know it's in the marea - will it only fit the HGT engine bay? People do the turbo conversion for 200+bhp, but what about a diesel conversion.... that'll be cool

watch out for richard courts (corts) - i have had several run ins with them re after sales service and " repairs" that are down to "wear and tear " . I had to complain to Fiat in the end !!!

Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

From the Fiat web page:

These are all 3 Doors,

1.2 = 80Bhp, 114NM
1.6 = 103Bhp, 145NM
1.8 = 133Bhp, 162NM
1.9(D) = 115Bhp, 255NM
2.4 = 170Bhp, 221NM

The 5 door version are the same, except there is a wheezy 1.9D with a paltry 80Bhp and 196NM

Now the Marea's are not being built the 2.4 Diesel is not being put in any current Stilo models according to the Fiat.co.uk web site.

Oh and the new Barchetta is a paltry £10,995 on the road, that's a flippin bargain, especially as it's gotta be one of the best looking sports cars on the market.
Trouble is if you specify all the options it up's the price to a smidge under £15K

Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

oh , they also cracked my sump and then claimed it was like that when the RAC brought the car in - strange really as there was no oil on the back of the recovery vehicle ramp !( statement obtained from the RAC) ..

beware !!!!!!!!!

Re: Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

So why is the 1.8 Bravo engine only kicking out 115bhp then?

Re: Re: Re: Driven a Stilo?

Patrick, I have driven the 1.9 TD 115bhp and I must say that it was really nice to drive. It was fast, but the claimed 115bhp doesnt feel the same as in a petrol version. Power comes out instantly so you feel an instant power surge as with all diesels. Infact here in Malta the 1.9 115 comes with traction control as standard. Having traction control should prove that they are fast on acceleration.

As a petrol head I must say that i likes the charactheristics of the engine. Handling is very good with the standard 205/60 Z16" wheels and ride is quite soft and smooth as well. Cabin feels very snug but parking needs some time to get used because of the big rear.
