General Drilled and grooved discs

Anybody fitted any to a gp? Thinking of putting them on the front of my 1.9 sporting, I know how they work and helps brake fade an stuff but since I've never had them I want someone's opinion who has them? Good or wasting my money?

I have them on mine (ebc ultimax on the front and mtec on the rear) and would recommend both. It's probably more of an aesthetic thing in all honesty, doubt you'd notice the difference.

I went for just grooved as I've heard of discs cracking around the drilled holes - didn't fancy that.

Really depends on whether you're getting fade from your existing ones (I suspect you'll have to push on pretty hard to get that)

If not then as you say - aesthetics

I used to have mtec drilled discs on my tjet, they make no difference what so ever but look good.

The holes did fill up with brake dust quickly and needed cleaning out regularly, hence why i went back to standard discs

^ alright grandad, everyone likes to have a bit of fun in their car from time to time. So long as it's the right place and the right time there's no harm in it. I get brake fad from time to times, it happens. Nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade the brakes to stop it.

If you read what I have wrote on everything in this thread, I've never once said I do get brake fade, I said I know it helps so read up next time mate.

Standard brakes are more than adequate for normal driving.

So if you want better brakes i assume that must mean, you either want to track it or your current brakes are inadequate for your driving style, which takes me back to my original comment.

As I said 'right place right time'. I never advocate driving fast in busy/residential areas but if you know the road well, know your own limits and do suitable upgrades in order to keep the driving within the cars limits then people won't get hurt.

Clearly if you're getting brake fade in a 30mph limit through town you're reckless but that isn't the topic of conversation here.

I visit this forum quite regularly, and i see regualrly people (90% male, and i'm guessing 75% of them under 25) asking of ways to make the car go faster.

A number of years ago, a few of us were showing off, "having a bit of fun ... right place, right time" we all knew the road like the back of our hands and had driven it many many times.
Then my mate made a simple mistake and put his car into a tree.
Killed his brother outright.

We've all had to live with that, and still do every time we drive past that tree.
I guess until you've witnessed or experienced it, then it will never touch home.

Having a bit of fun is all part of having a car otherwise a sporty car would never be sold.

Life is all about risks otherwise we'd never leave the house, granted I'd never wish anyone else to be put at risk for someone else to have fun.

I asked 1 simple question so don't question my driving, I was wondering if they were better Jesus Christ mate, give it a rest.

I know, I didn't take yours in a bad way because you were trying to help but his comments aren't trying to help they are just rude, obstructive and unhelpful, which isn't the aim of the fiat forum
